The Peak is the other name for Victoria Peak and this is one of Hong Kong’s most admired tourist attractions. The Peak offers magnificent views of the city that made Hong Kong popular the world over. Riding the Peak Tram is one of the best ways to reach The Peak because it allows visitors to enjoy riding a historic tram.
There are other means of transportation though that can take you to The Peak. You can take a bus in Central MTR station. The bus to the Peak starts leaving at 6 in the morning till midnight and at every 10 minutes interval. It has stops to the Star ferry Terminus and the Exchange Square.
You get dropped off on Bowen Road and from there you can walk down to a roundabout and enter a pedestrian alley. Bowen Road is a narrow street and it is famous as Hong Kong’s nicest trails. It offers easy walk and scenes of the lush greenery. Along this trail you get to see Hong Kong’s north side, which boasts of great views of the Victoria Harbour, Kowloon and Wan Chai. You also get to visit the Lovers’ Rock, which is believed to have the power of providing successful marriages.
You can also drop off at the White Jade and go through the Stubbs Road Lookout. The views from this place are simply spectacular and somewhat different from the ones you can get from the Bowen Road.
If you have enough time to spare, you can take one more ride and stop to Wan Chai Gap Road and visit the Hong Kong Police Museum where you can enjoy the exhibits of old police apparels and weapons as well as the 19th century portraits of the senior police officers.
From there, you can enjoy the rest of the ride up to the Peak and enjoy the view. Of course on the way down, you shouldn’t miss riding the tram.
